Getting Started

It takes a great amount of effort to get started as a hero. There's a certain drive that keeps heroes going out night after night. So before you run off into the night totally clueless, ask yourself: Are you really ready?

It might help to get together with one or two other heroes. Plan on going on two or three times a week (pace yourself at first - just until you get the hang of it). Have a patrol route planned out until you feel comfortable wandering the bad side of town. This might seem a little childish, but your teammates may be the only thing that could possibly save your butt in a fight or if you get wounded.

Other things to consider before taking to the rooftops is yourself. Yes, yourself. Do you have a costume? Will you be able to hid your identity? Can you move and fight easily in what you are wearing? Are you ready to fight? Is there a special something you can do (like throw ninja stars or do you carry around a clawed glove)? Do you know what you'd do once you had a thief or a burglar tied up? These are the type of questions you should ask yourself. If you can answer these questions, then you may just be ready to go.

Another thing to consider is time. Do you have the time to be a super hero? Can you afford to go out three nights a week and look for criminals? How late are you planning on staying up? If you don't have the time, then you probably won't start being a super hero until you make time.

So lets run over what you should do before actually going out on your heroic patrol:
1. Can you move, fight, and carry everything you need in and with your costume?
2. Have you planned for all the worst-case scenarios?
3. Do you have a partner(s) and a way to get around?
4. Where will you be patrolling?
5. How many times will you go patrolling in a week?
6. How long will you be patrolling?
Also, feel free to post any questions on the message board.
