Putting Together A Super Team
If you're thinking about putting a Super Team together, then you've decide not
to work alone. Don't start a team and expect to run off by yourself. That
would be unfair to your team. But, lets not worry about that until AFTER you
get your team put together.
STEP #1 - Finding Team Members
To have a team, you'll need team members. So, how do you find team members?
Well, you have a few options.
A) You could always see if your friends are interested. Benefits: You know them,
they know you, everyone knows how the others may act in situations. Disadvantages:
A fight between friends can cause a gap between heroes, if the identity of one is
known then the others are in danger.
B) You could also seek out people from martial art dojos or sports teams. Benefits:
You can keep your identity a secret. Disadvantages: People would know if you
asked too many, you can't control what they would say (would they talk to
others?), and unless you do a little background check on them - you really don't
know them at all.
C) Seek out other super heroes in your area. Of course, you can only do this if
there are other super heroes in your area. Benefits: They're definitely local,
they're already established, they will already be keeping their ears open for info
on crime. Disadvantages: You might not know them yet, working together may be a
challenge since you were previously working alone.
If you want to remain anonymous when finding memebers, simply leave a small note
that says: 'Looking for a hero. Meet me at --Location-- at --Time--. Wear a mask.'
If they show up, then they're interested. Just make sure they come alone. When they
do show up, introduce yourself. If you want to test them, this could be a good time
to do it. Start by sparring with the person. They will probably think that you
are starting a fight. Just see how the fight. If it gets out of hand, stop them
by telling them you sent the note. Then ask them to join up with you and make sure
you tell them that it was just a test. You had to know what they'd do: fight or
flight.
STEP #2 - First Meeting
You'll want to set up a first meeting. Usually Friday and Saturday nights work best
since that's when most people have their days off. Make sure you have all your team
members in check before setting this up. That way, you only have to do this once.
You will want to meet at a secluded place, like a rooftop. You will also want some
sort of case to start working on. Has there been a lot of recent break-ins or burglaries?
You may want to start out with something simple like that. Have the others introduce
themselves and then fill them in on what's going on.
STEP #3 - Further Meetings
You will want to meet up with these guys again. Right? Well, you can always give
them an email address. Just to keep your identity a secret, you may want to get
a second email address that does not use your real name. If you can't do this,
then there's always the possibility of handing out phone/pager numbers. Talk
with your new teammates. You may want to purchase walkie talkies and have one
of your teammates actually have the role of dispatch/on-patrol computer. This is
where they'd be on the headset/walkie talkie while you guys are out partoling. If
any problems occur, they could let you know about it. Another bonus is that they
could do searches on people if they have an internet connection. You'll figure
something out. Just make sure that everyone agrees.
